- Students should explore though 4 years at DKU various discipline to broaden knowledge and develop interests. Especially for freshmen year, student should take EAP, writing courses and possibly public speaking courses and various intro courses in AH, SS, DNAS, such economics, environments, political science, philosophy, psychology, literature, media etc.
- Students with no CS background should take CS101 or STAT102 and other DF/ID courses in freshmen year. Students with no CS background should consider taking CS201 in sophomore year as well (not in the freshmen year). Once you’ve taken CS201, you cannot take CS101 anymore. (anti-prerequisite).
- Students should follow bulletin and pre-req sequence to take D/ID/DF courses and encouraged to explore various electives if interested and pre-req satisfied.
- Students go to Duke should plan and with due preparation to explore and the Duke CS, Math and STATS course offerings. Check duke bulletin, example courses are Duke CS307, CS330, CS308, CS316, CS310, CS230, CS250, CS308, ECE 553, and many other courses that complements DKU’s offering. https://cs.duke.edu/course-catalog
- COMPSCI 203 is a common prerequisite for many Duke CS courses. It is recommended to complete this course before you go to Duke.
- Please review Duke-DKU credit transfer procedure before you enroll Duke classes. Duke CS 330 is simply a popular example which is equivalent to DKU COMPSCI 308 as shown in the 4-year plan. - COMPSCI 309/Math 405/STATS 302 is a common prerequisite for many AI-relevant classes. You may take an equivalent course: Duke CS 371 instead, which is equivalent to STATS 302.
- Students should note that in order to reach the 136 credits required for graduation, they will need 8 additional credits beyond the minimum course load of 16 credits per term for eight terms.

Class of 2023 & Beyond Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan Students: additional 14 credits needed for 150 credits total.
- 4 credits Military Training
- 8 credits Ministry of Education courses CHSC101 and 102
- 4 credits PE (2 of which can count toward the 136 credits for Duke degree): passing physical proficiency test set by Ministry of Education of China
- For all students a maximum of 2 PE credits can count toward the 136 credits required to graduate.
