M.S. Graduate Assistantship in Climatology, Western Kentucky University
The Department of Earth, Environmental, and Atmospheric Sciences at Western Kentucky University (WKU) is inviting applications for a M.S.-level graduate student to work on a funded research project examining the impact of surface energy fluxes on rain-on-snow (ROS) events in the eastern United States. The position is for two years, starting Fall 2023. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to project objectives in analysis of observational data products, with emphasis on the role of turbulent heat fluxes in influencing ROS events and their associated snowmelt.
Position includes $15,000 per year stipend, graduate tuition, and financial support for conference travel. Applicants should have a B.S. degree in the atmospheric, environmental, or geographic sciences, or closely related discipline. Prior experience in computer programming (e.g., NCL, Python, FORTRAN) in application to climatic processes is strongly preferred.
Interested candidates should contact Dr. Zachary Suriano ( zachary.suriano@wku.edu) with (a) a brief letter indicating their research and career interests, with alignment to this position, and (b) a curriculum vitae. Review of candidates will begin immediately, and the search will continue until the position is filled.
