Abstract

The booming metaverse, as a new generation of Internet technology, requires a 3D engine that enables users to create virtual worlds anytime and anywhere. The rise of Web3D technology, which operates without plugins and offers cross-platform compatibility, has gained widespread adoption due to its ease of use and decentralized nature. However, the vastness of the metaverse and its potentially unlimited user base pose challenges in server processing, network transmission, and browser rendering.

To address these four key bottlenecks, we propose a lightweight, efficient Web3D solution featuring high quality, accuracy, low cost, low energy consumption, and low latency. This includes: 1. Lightweight, fine-grained preprocessing of virtual world scenes; 2. Network transmission scheduling for multi-user online sharing; 3. Lightweight online Web3D rendering with global illumination. Our solution has been validated in over 20 large-scale Web3D projects across various sectors and can be integrated into metaverse PaaS.
